History is a fascinating subject. So is the English language. Our teachers can combine them and kill two birds with one stone, teaching language through history and culture, whether that is simply for fun or for academic purposes. Sounds Ideal, doesn’t it?
The classes follow the traditional ‘Communicative Approach’, concentrating on the four main skills (reading, listening, writing, and speaking) as well as functional language, idioms and expressions, amongst other things. But the topics and contexts will all be history and culture focused, perhaps through videos, classic literature and more.

AVIATION ENGLISH
Let’s be honest, being a pilot is the dream job, isn’t it? The aviation industry is fascinating, perhaps
because it evokes images of our holidays. It’s also fascinating because the language is so vital and
particular and the international operational language of aviation is, of course, English.
The English capability of pilots and air traffic controllers is assessed every three to six years
(depending on the level of the professional) in the IACO AELTS test and a level 4 (Operational) is
mandatory in order to work. This highlights the importance of Aviation English classes.
Our experienced teachers follow a methodical programme to ensure IACO compliance, enabling
professionals in the aviation industry to develop the skills needed to succeed in any level four
assessment and also to function effectively and safely in an aviation environment.
The classes aim to explore not only the necessary aviation phraseology but also the plain English
required for communication between pilots and air traffic controllers and between pilots and
pilots, all contextualised in real-world aviation situations.

GENERAL / TRAVEL ENGLISH
We all love our summer holidays. Heading off to a foreign country to experience its cultures and
traditions is one of life’s great pleasures. English, of course, is the dominant global language, not
only in English-speaking countries but also in countries where your native language is not spoken.
If that prevents you from experiencing your holiday fully (or perhaps you set off on a big jungle trip
without soap after accidentally asking for soup in the shop, as happened to one of our team!), we
have the Ideal solution.
Our Travel English classes demonstrate the scenarios in which English will need to be used on a
trip, whether it’s for business or pleasure – at the airport, at a restaurant and reading a menu,
catching a bus, going to the cinema or theatre, asking for help, amongst other things. Role-plays
and functional language supplement the more traditional classes (based on the Communicate
approach) to give your trip the Ideal start.
